    Dining with Shamu?

    Dining with Shamu?
Wonder if anyone can help me please.

Can you book to dine with Shamu if you don't have a ticket to Seaworld?

When we are in Florida, one of the friends we are going with has his birthday and his wife wondered about booking this, forgetting that we are not going to Seaworld this time [msnsad]

Also, how far in advance do you have to book a character breakfast? We've done this before at the Crystal Palace with pooh and friends and enjoyed it so much, we want to do it again!!

You will need park admission to Dine with Shamu.

Character breakfasts are hit and miss - the earlier you can book the better generally - but a couple of times we have left it until last minute and just phoned the 1-800-WDW-DINE no. and they have found us something.

I have been to Dine with Shamu and would recommend it but if you are not going to go to Seaworld otherwise it is not worth the extra money for admission.
If you do decide to go, tell them it is a birthday celebration and ask if you can reserve a table closest to the fence. It is a much better experience if you are up close and personal with the killer whale.
Character breakfasts vary. If you choose one in the resorts, you don't need to use a days park admission and they are often easier to get into. I can recommend the one at the Beach Club with Chip and Dale and Goofy.
The one at Crystal Palace is great but even if you book, there is often a long wait,so try to get a very early time as there is less chance of a wait and you get early entry to the park.

We did it last month and we were not impressed at all. Whilst the food was good your are always under the impression they are timing you to get the next sitting in.They were taking food away as we were getting our first course as we arrived 5 mins late.
The person looking after Shamu didnt get the whale to do much other than to swim around whilst he leant on a post looking bored. I think he did manage to get it to jump once but that was during his small presentation.
It was my friends young lad birthday and we had arranged a cake for him. How nice it would have been for him for Shamu to come over when everybody was singing happy birthday (They show this in the advert for dine with Shamu) but no the person looking after him was too busy proping up the post.
We will not be doing it again and will be going to Disney to do a Character meal next time.

I can recommend breakfast at the grand floridian-Park Fayre.

We had Winnie, Tigger and Eeyore in attendance and if the yougster was a bit scared of the characters-as ours was-there's Alice, Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins-and these worked so hard.

My last memory was a little girl leading Alice round by the hand as if she was her biggest bestest friend-and Alice was adorable.

A lot of the children come dressed up too-so that makes it a bit more meomrable.

    Hi Neil and Cathy,
I am sorry you had a bad experience with the shamu dining. We must have been lucky. The food was nothing special but then I go with low expectations as most of the food at these dinner shows is rarely special. The Shamu interaction was good. He was retrieving fish and came very close to the tables and did bird squirts etc. The trainer was really showing off with what she could get him/her to do. We enjoyed it. Having said that I would not go to the park and pay entry fee as well as cost of meal, if I wasn't going to the park anyway.

I must tell you my manager's daughter is now a trainer at the Shamu show. She was so thrilled as she did a couple of years at collage, then got a job in the Dolly Parton's dinning show with the horses, and now this. I cannot wait to go and see her do the show next time we are over[msnsmile2]
