Hi Jovi.
Although we are mad keen on Florida, we are also addicted to France, particularly as it's do-able short haul even from where we live in the North of England. We particularly love the Languedoc - many of the advantages of the French Riviera but a little less commercialised and expensive. Glorious weather, great wine and good beaches. It's a long drive down (we wouldn't do it with our caravan in tow!) but worth it. If you want a beach/marina/fun fair holiday try Cap d'Agde but our favourite is Pezenas, a superbly preserved and pretty early medieval town, home of Moliere and numerous antique (well - French style anyway!) shops. Also conveniently situated for enjoying the whole area. For good accommodation we can recommed Languedoc Lets (think it's now accessed through purefrance.com). We have used them a few times and our favourite rental property is Fontedicto - a characterful convent conversion at which you can ditch the car and walk to all the local restaurants etc and yet not know your're in a town centre. Bliss! (Although quaint by Florida standards).
For a direct with owner booking and real chill-out in a true French village and with very few fellow non-French around, you could try Montady Villa, in Montady nr. Beziers. Quiet, clean, really well equipped and reasonably priced. Put Montady villa in Google and you should find it.
Hope it helps.
