    Free Local Telephone calls?

I've read on the forum that all calls that you would expect to be local are not at the free rate. How can you tell if you're using a villa phone if it will be free or not? Are your call charges something that you can check after each call is made or do you get a bill at the end of the holdiay? If we do make some local calls that are chargeable what sort of costs will we be looking at?

Elaine, as you say from what you have already read on the forum it is difficult to judge what is and what is not a local call.

What is the exact nature of your post, what are you trying to find out exactly.

If its not a free call you will not be able to dial it without a phone card or other means to pay for the call[msnwink]

Elaine, when we stayed at a rental villa last year we only used local calls for ringing restaurants etc.We couldn't always tell if it was a free number or not but when we dialled out only the free numbers were connected.
    Hope this makes sense[?]

Local calls are normally free, however local means very local and quite often even same district codes are not considered local.
The simple answer is to buy a phone card from either a petrol station or supermarket which will allow you to make calls both national and international. These cards can be of whatever value you require, normally $10.00 should be more than enough.
You can if you want dial in your credit card details and this will allow you to make calls, the down side of this is you do not know what sort of bill you will get on return to home.[?]

Usually, the Villa phone has a phone block. Before I ordered the unlimited phone service to offer my guests free local and international calls- I would usually get a phone bill with a few calls, it usually only cost me about $5.00. I would never pass that on to the guests as they probably were just calling restaurants and that is all part of the holiday experience.

    Hi Elaine,

If you booked a villa through the Orlando Villas group of sites, the owner will be able to tell you what phone calls are provided free. Many of the villas advertising here now have an arrangement whereby ALL phone calls, whether local, national, mobile or international are not charged to guests. These are normally detailed in our adverts.

If you booked through another site, the tour operator or management company should be able to tell you what calls are free. Even if some are not free, phone cards are easy to use and available from most of the large supermarkets, pharmacy stores, filling stations and lots of small convenience stores. Unless you plan to make a lot of phone calls back to the UK a small
denomination phonecard - $10 or so, will be more than enough.

    Have a great time.[msncool]
