    Bed linen sizes?

I'd like to buy some new bedding whilst on holiday but don't know what US size is the same as Kingsize here, can anyone help?

    Thanks

Someone informed me of this link to Linen's and Things, (which I think will be OK as it does not deal in Villas, Car hire or Flights!)

    http://www.lnt.com/info/index.jsp?ca...foPath=1367705

It gives the sizes for most beds, etc

English beds are all pretty much a size smaller. Twin sheets will be a bit big but fine on English single beds. Full will be big on a UK double and I would probably use queen on a UK king as US King will swamp it. Remember the terminology, bed skirt is what we call a valance in the UK, shams are pillow cases, and they have comforters not duvets with covers.

If you were to buy a king size comforter in the uk for a queen size bed in the usa would this be big enough. The depth of the beds in the usa seem to be much longer.

If you look at the link Mr G posted, it gives the actual size of comforter (plus bedspread, blanket, pillow) required for each size of bed.

re the bed skirts will they be what we call a valanced sheet or a divan trim?

Also how deep is the frill, are US beds all higher than UK beds?

I've never seen a valanced sheet in Florida, only the divan trim (if you mean by that the ones that go under the mattress?).

You can get extra long ones but the usual size is around about the same depth as in the UK.
