    Character Dining

To save me trawling through all the information on the Disney website. Does anyone know which character dining experience you can do without having to purchase a ticket to the Disney Theme Parks? I know there are some you can and some you can't. We have been to Disney so many times and we were trying to avoid the Disney parks this year, but my daughter who is 20 while we are away, wants to have a meal with some of the characters.

    Hi Bernie

You don't need a park ticket to go to the Character Dinings at the Disney Resort Hotels.
Our favourtite is O'Hana at the Polynesian resort and is a breakfast Buffet - we normally try and book a table overlooking the lagoon and you can see the ferry boats taking everyone over to The Magic Kingdom.

    but you could also try;

1900 Park Fare at The Grand Floridan - Dinner or Breakfast Buffet
Cape May Cafe at Disney Beach Club Resort - Breakfast Buffet
Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort - Dinner or Breakfast Buffet
Gulliver's Grill at the Swan resort - Dinner Buffet

For dining reservations just phone Disney direct on 407 939 3463

    Have a great time

Ohana breakfast at the Polynesian Resort is my favourite too. Really nice atmosphere. You don't need a park ticket. You just turn up at the main entrance to the park, show them your confirmation or reservation number and they tell you where to go. For breakfast, you are likely to get there well before the parks open. Have fun.

Character Breakfasts are just great fun for all the family.

Never crossed our minds to look for one where park entry isn't needed, we always try and arrange it round a day in the park! Just makes the day that bit more special!

Have a great time, as if you wouldn't!

We've done the Chef Mickeys breakfast at the Contemporary, it was excellent. Lots of time with the characters, hundreds of photos, great food - we prefer doing this on a day we're not going to a park, so we can spend loads of time enjoying the atmosphere and then head back to the villa for a chill out by the pool or else off to the shops for some retail therapy.

We did O'Hana at the Polynesian resort yesterday and I thought it was great. Kids loved it which is the main thing and the characters came round a number of times. We sat for breakfast at 9.15am and were not rushed or hurried in any way. Left at 11.00am and went a stroll around the complex.

Especially liked the way they got the kids involved with an 'Ohana train' around the dining area ( a bit like the conga but with shakers and to Hawaiian music !)

$17.99 for adults and I think it was $11.99 for the kids + tax. Book as far ahead as you can as it is popular. You can call upto 60 days in advance I think, no deposit required which is nice.

we did Park Fayre at the Grand Floridian for breakfast just 3 weeks ago and it was lovely.

There was Eeyore, Winnie, Tigger, Mad Hatter, Alice and Mary Poppins in attendance and they really worked hard and were lovely with the children-especially my 2 year old grandson who was terrified.
    Well recommend it.

I would like to do this but I doubt if I could get Mr CDV anywhere near something like this. Maybe that is a challenge for this next trip at the end of the month. We already have a challenge for him to have his picture taken with Mickey and Co! Years ago I managed one of us with Popeye and Olive Oyle but that's it! He prefers roller coasters and scarey rides, me I queue up with the kids to meet Tigger!

We did the Cape May Cafe breakfast last visit for the first time and thought it was much better than O'Hana. We also like 1900 Park Fayre and Chef Mickeys, but we think the food is better at the Grand Floridian[msnwink]
