    Insurance for Children

I'm taking my niece with us when we go to the villa in August, but as yet I haven't got her travel insurance yet. She's only 14 so does anyone have any suggestions of where I can get insurance for her.

does she not get included with the family travel insurance? if you have booked some for yourselves do you already have kids on yours? dont think it will be that helpful but we bought ours through here last year and had to buy my sons separate hes 21 so couldnt be included on the family one but it was still cheaper here if i remember rightly? or theres Tescos and sainsburys etc..... they all seem to do travel insurance

I have annual family travel insurance, but I don't think she will be covered under that because she doesn't live with us. I've searched online for travel insurance quotes but it doesn't seem to like her age.

Don't forget to get a letter of consent from her parents in case you need to seek medical treatment.

Alot of the insurance companies don't appear to cover children on their own, we had this problem last year when we took a friends daughter with us. In the end we got her covered through Norwich Union but there must be other companies that do this too.[msnsmile2]

If you buy a family policy then the children are only covered when they are with you , ridiculous I know.
When we renewed ours recently we were told our daughter who is 18 and a student would be covered if with us but not if she travelled without us.

Just a thought - are the parents (adults) on the family insurance policy covered if the children don't travel with them? Ie you're not travelling as a family?
