    Pool Heating in May????

Hi Everyone quick question for a neighbour hes booking a villa next may starting around the 6th of may, will he need to consider pool heating? He has 3 very small children, I normally visit in November and found the pool was unusable without the heating in November although temperatures were still higher than out typical summer day at best!

    Depends how wimpy people are!!!

If the kids are very small, then the answer is probably yes he may well need pool heating unless the kids are pretty hardy! If he was going towards the end of May then I might say probably not but he's going near the beginning of the month.

The pool water temperature without heating is around 10 - 15F below the air temperature, which is around 80 - 85+F in May so, to my mind, that would probably be too cool for very little ones.

My parents have just returned from our villa and they had the pool heat on. They did say it might have been ok without it, but they decided not to chance it.

I would say with little ones, almost certainly yes. I personally am OK in May, but my daughter (19) and my husband are not. Chloe

we didn't have our pool heat, that was first week of April? we are South facing, which helps, and I don't like a bath too hot, so it is only us I wouldn't in May normally even consider advising guests to have pool heat at that time of year, but very young kids...may be worth considering the budget

We have it on whenever we go, even in August, and in May, well there is no question, its ON! The hotter the temperature of the air the colder the pool feels.

    Anyway, we are wimps.

I don't want to spend half my holiday inching my way into the pool like I do in the UK, you know, toes first, whole foot, up to the knee, get out, shiver, get back in, start again, get as far as the waist, walk around for half an hour threatening anyone who so much as drips one drop on me...half heartedly splash a little water on my shoulders, scream in agony, inch towards the deep end, realise that there is just 10 minutes left until we had planned to go out, then take the plunge!

No way, put the heat on, glide effortlessly in............bliss!

I'm not going to apologise for being a wimp - good luck to those who obviously don't feel the cold. There are lots of us on the forum who have come out of the closet. I am in good company. Pool heat every time!

Definitely! We like to be comfortable and relaxed in the pool. We can all easily stay in for most of the day. I would HATE it to be cold[msnwink]
