taking more than 2 weeks for a single vacation

We're just in the process of sorting out our annual hol's for next year. (3 weeks over Easter - Yeah!). But as part of this, i've had to jump thru a couple of hoops to be allowed to take more than 2 weeks of at a time. Wondering if this is normal with other companies? Before my current company was bought it wasn't a problem.

Did an American company buy it......we always had trouble if they bought one of the English companies my hubby worked for....

He had 8 weeks off in the UK.......
And the new American owners were only happy if you took a few days off at a time......hubby would have weeks left at the end of the year.....and have to take the money not the time off.....

I think this is quite common especially in smaller companies. I don't think I would be allowed 3 weeks off I have trouble getting a couple of extra days tagged on to my 2 week vacation ! But George would be allowed a month if he wanted ( he works for BT)

Unless you are self emplyed it is quite common, boyh Jen and myself have to submit requsets to our employers to take 3 weeks leave. It never seems to cause a problem though.

I used to work in the NHS and never had a problem taking off four weeks at a time, even in the dim and distant. A good tip was taking no leave and then being 'forced' to take it all in one go! Or taking two weeks at the end of one year's allocation and then the additional leave from the next year. Most years I never took my full leave allocation as I was one of the bosses and the staff came first.

If you work really hard you almost need 3 weeks off because it takes a week to shake off the exhaustion and getting relaxed.I am sure employers would find it benefits them to allw for this

I can't wait to ask my boss for 6 weeks off in December/January![msneek]Tiptoeing round it now, I have the holiday and can't use it due to work commitments between July and November so they don't really have a choice[msneek]

My hubbie has the same problem and even more so this year as we are taking over 3 weeks in the summer and then again at Xmas although some of these days are made up of his Xmas break - I think they are just jealous[msnwink] he's not getting paid for some of them, but we thought as it was a special birthday for him at xmas what the heck!
I on the other hand carn't take more than 3 unless it is in the 6 weeks hols as I work in a school! mind you they owe me lots of time so I have negotiated an extra week at xmas I think it will defo be a one off. I wish they would change the hols so there wern't 6 in the summer as I would prefer when the weather was cooler!
    I know I want it all!!!!!!!!![msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

I work for a company which is owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, as far as they are concerned you can take as much holiday at one time as you like. Only wish I had lots more to use!!!!![8D]
