I'm confused. Do you print off your e-mails with your e-tickets on them or do you just take along your passport and flight number to teh desk to book in?
Can anyone advise?

We've travelled to Florida using a Virgin e-ticket today. We were sent the confirmation by post - it was basically a sheet or two of A4 paper with the details including e-ticket number printed on. We used this to check in online yesterday and then turned up at Manchester just over an hour before departure this morning, dropped our bags off and boarded.
We had our etickets emailed to us for our last visit and just took the email to the check-in desk and they worked a treat.

We just have our's e-mailed to us and then I print off 2 or 3 copies (just in case we loose one) and then use these to check in at the airport. I can't remember the last time I had actual tickets[msnsmile2]

Yep, we've just printed off the emails every time we've travelled for the last couple of years, without a problem [msnsmile]

We do exactly the same as everyone else except once when we booked with a popular on line agent who said we did not need them, only a copy of our itinerary. We very rarely get asked for them, just present our passports and away we go.[msnsmile]
As long as you have the booking ref number you are able to book in without the e-ticket.
But to be on the safe side I always get a copy of the ticket.
As Dom says basically all you need is your booking ref number and you passport - e-ticket is paperless ticket, I always put my booking ref in my mobile too just in case[msnwink]
All you need to use an e-ticket is some form of ID, a passport, driving licence or credit card will do, and your flight details. You can then either check in at the desks or use the machines, depending on the lenght of queue. An e-ticket is just a paperless ticket which the airlines like as it is cheaper for them to administer.
We booked our flights with Virgin via Charter Travel, will we get tickets or e tickets?
