    Anybody flown Lufthansa to Miami?

We decided to cash in some BMI airmiles for a trip to Florida in Sept. Sadly all free BMI flights to Washington are fully booked[msnsad]
We asked about using a partner airline and were offered Air Canada via Toronto but they could only do 7 nights and we wanted 9 or 10.
We have come away with flights to Miami via Frankfurt[msneek]
It's not actually as bad as it sounds, the Heathrow Frankfurt leg is very early and only an hours stop over so we arrive in Miami at 1.30 pm, plenty of time to drive up to Orlando for dinner[msnsmile2]
My husband is one of those lucky people who is asleep before we start to taxi and can sleep all the way if necessary so he will be quite refreshed for the drive at the other end.
Just wondered if anyone else had been daft enough to fly this route or had flown transatlantic with Lufthansa.

Yep. I flew with Lufthansa last November Liz. I went Manchester->Munich->Miami and then Miami->Frankfurt->Manchester.

The flights themselves are pretty good; a big thumbs up for Lufthansa. I did have an ulterior motive for chosing Lufthansa though, in that I had a couple of Star Alliance upgrade vouchers that expired at the end of the year.

I wasn't overly keen on the outbound flight times. I left Manchester quite early but had a few hours in Munich and so didn't get into Miami until about 4:30 I think. By the time I was through customs, immigration and had picked up the car I hit all the rush hour traffic on the way out of Miami. It was well past midnight when I got to the villa and I was absolutely knackered. If I were doing it again I would stay overnight in Miami I think. You should be fine arriving Miami at 1:30pm.

I had to be out of the villa before my flight home so I had a couple of nights down in Key Largo instead of staying around Miami.

Thanks for that word of encouragement Steve, it seems as if we are going half way round the world to get there but I keep telling myself it's free!!!!!

Lufthansa is a good airline Liz, they will look after you well. We fly from Germany every trip as you know. We have to come back via Miaimi this trip next week but hey ho, anything to get to Florida![8D]

While I have not flown that leg I have flown Lufthansa a lot and rate them highly as a good airline[msnsmile2]

I am scrolling thru posts and found this one.
Is it very far to drive from Miaim to Orlando?
Never having driven on the 'other side of the road' would this be a major ordeal to face?

We drove it last year and took 4 hours. We stayed over in Miami though.

We flew into Miami last October and then drove up to the villa in Orlando, it took just over 4 hours, but a nice drive.[msnsmile2]
