has anyone got any suggestions for a good holiday book?
have just bought 'the time travelers wife' to take with me, but wondered if anyone had read anything lately that they would recommend.

oh thanks, Liesa. just found this section now. never noticed it before.
did do a search but it didnt show any threads.
Hi, Liesa is right, the other thread has some good reading recommendations and we have discussed this book, I have read it and would recommend it but I would personally prefer something a little lighter as a holiday read.
Due to a very lengthy delay in Manchester Airport over Easter, I called into Waterstones and bought "The DaVinci Code". It's not my usual type of book at all (I read non-fiction books). However, I was rivited and really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it.
read the 'DaVinci code' which was really good if taken with a large dose of salt.
bought 'call me Elizabeth' yesterday but have started reading it already so will have read it by my holidays!!
will peruse the other thread now for more good ideas.
If you want a lighthearted and amusing read try 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' by Sophie Kinsella. My daughter introduced me to this book during our last trip, and I started reading it, somewhat reluctantly, as its not the sort of book I would normally pick up. But I ended up enjoying it.
It's not a work of great literary merit, so don't expect anything along the lines of 'Anna Karenina', but it is quite wittily written, and it is somewhat eye-opening to see someone else who cannot resist a bargain justifying their purchases so admirably.
As you are going to the bargain shopping centre of the world, it would provide a 'fun' read. It should be essential reading for any woman with a credit card and a zest for shopping!![]()

There are another 4 "sequels" to the Shopaholicbooks. My sister in law took them to Florida and I ended up borrowing and enjoying them for a light, amusing holiday read.
If you enjoyed the Da Vinci code try Angels and Deamons, also very good, couldnt put it down.
