The Miles Plus Money option is often good to spend your miles on. We tend to do this for the kids' tickets and then earn miles on ours. It only costs 2000 miles and can sometimes save you about £200. Booking flights for miles, or miles plus money is easier the earlier you book. I was told by a guy at Virgin that they have an allocation on every flight - but obviously the popular dates get taken first.

The perks of a Silver Elite card allow check in at Premium Economy even when flying coach class.
You get no benefits with the red card except for collecting miles for free flights.

    Chris,

Thanks for the clarification [msnsmile] So I need to pay £80 for the 'spend £1 receive 2 miles upgrade' then spend £15k on the card. A good excuse for spending if ever I heard one!

AmericanExpress/Virgin have a promotion at the moment; sign up for an Amex Gold card for £95 and receive 20000 Virgin Air Miles when you first use the card.

We are silver card holders and last year had a free upgrade from Premium to First Class on our outward flight, for 6 of us. The check-in girl sais it was due to our being SIlver card holders.[msnsmile]

We thought First Class was very nice but really not nice enough to warrant paying the hefty upgrade prices but hey when its free![msnwink][msnsmile2]
