Put me down as an employee if you start one!, mind you we live in an area where the local council charges for disabled parking in its car parks and then you still can't get parked because our local councillor has parked his Mercedes at an angle into two disabled spaces (no, he isn't disabled and wasn't displaying a badge).

yes I'm fine thanks. Luckily it happened in the villa and I went down gradually.

My daughter asked if I was shook up-well not as shook up as I was the day before when my wrist went and I fell getting into the car-or later on in the evening when my grandson's head fell on my nose-and I thought it was broken-cos I didn't half see stars.

Well I got the chair repaired today and thankfully they were able to hire me a chair for the day!!!!

just want to add some extra to this disabled matter, i am "normal looking" no walking sticks or wheelchair, whilst i am not classed as "disabled" and i have a disabled badge, i have arthritis in my hip and knee, and when i park my car in the disabled bays at Asda i always get the looks, no one knows what my pain is like! i take maximum painkillers everyday cocodamol, 30/500gms, also amitryptilene nightly, and atenalol for high blood pressure, i try hard not to park in the bays closest to the doors , but am fed up with the dirty looks i get from other disabled bay users i have a badge on display and have had it for 9 years (the badge) have had arthritis for 16 years now! have tried all sorts of medication but nothing helps or works! i am at a low right now as my joints are on a flare up! the knee is a constant pain as well as my hip and am waiting to go in for arthroscopy sometime this year as the problem isnt showing on MRI but the consultants at my hospital know something is going on! not all disabled bay users have visible disabilities! sorry to go on just wnated to share this with you[msnembarrased]

You sound just like me, I've got it in both knees and a shoulder, County Durham has a ban on prescribing co-codamol & co-proxamol due to the number of people overdosing on them!, so they give me 228 paracetamol instead!!!, even with the codeine phosphate supplements they are useless, I'm in constant pain as well. The amitryptilene I take (for IBS??) just makes me sleepy

Don't have the parking problem anymore, I've given up driving due to the IBS, it's difficult to drive when you can't get out of the house!. I had the same looks as you, being 6'6" and built like a gorilla people asumed there was nothing wrong with me, even the woman in the pet shop had a go at me when I had to ask Miriam (Mrs Jeff) to carry the 25Kg bag of dog food for me

Ali, glad to hear you're OK, get back home before something else happens!

Hmmmm, well I just received a handicapped placard for the rear view mirror and have not used it...yet. I'm scared to! I don't have a mobility disability (and like you said, we LOOK normal with no disabilities), I am deaf. I wasn't born this way, but have adapted to a point. You may ask "why would a deaf person need to park in the handicapped zone?" The answer is, we don't hear cars backing up or approaching us from behind. After a hard of hearing friend came perilously close to being run over by a car behind her in a parking lot, she got a handicapped placard. She STRONGLY advised me to also, so I did.

But, like I said, I'm scared to use it! I am a tall, blond, healthy looking female and I just know that other people will give me dirty looks too. I'm sure they will think I'm cheating.

Mind you, I wouldn't even think of parking in a handicapped spot if I was not alone, and had someone there to be my "ears".

So tell me, has anyone ever said anything to you or is it just dirty looks you've had to endure so far?

Thanks for any helpful hints you have also

P.S. I plan to utilize ALL the assistive listening/alerting devices at Disney World
