I have a disabled daughter aged 9 and we visited Disney & Universal in 2003 and 2004. We found all the staff there really helpful - definitely go to Guest Services ...Disney give you one card for the whole of your stay whereas you have to go every day for a new pass at Universal but that only takes 15 minutes or so... We got to go in all the back entrances and found 99.999% of visitors at the parks friendly and helpful ...( just two ignorant people...)

    Cruella,
They will be with my brother in Law and his Kids all the time so they will go to the parks, just not on many of the rides. I personally think he chose the wrong time of year (August) as the heat will be at its "worst" then.

    No problem for hijacking!

PS My comments were not directed at people like you, I know that disabled means many things, not just the need to use a wheelchair or sticks. What really gets me is seeing young people (with no badge) using the disabled bays in our local shopping centre just because its next to McDonalds! What these idiots fail to realise is that its not just the distance to the shops, but the fact that many disabled people need to get the doors fully open to be able to get out, or have non-standard access (ramps lifts etc) and they need the extra clearance around the car. If the bays are full then often the disabled user can't actually park at all.

It whould help if the shopping centres clamped a car or two, but they just seem to ignore it.

I'm sure your mother and father-in-law will be fine. Disney staff are FAB and I'm sure they will do all they can to make their visit a magical one.

Is it their first time at Disney?

I had the same looks as you, being 6'6" and built like a gorilla people asumed there was nothing wrong with me, even the woman in the pet shop had a go at me when I had to ask Miriam (Mrs Jeff) to carry the 25Kg bag of dog food for me
