Its all very well getting flights to popular destinations from your local airport, but the last time we went to Spain I drove from home near Glasgow to Manchester. This summer we are flying from Gatwick to MCO, we will need to fly down from Edinburgh.

This is still cheaper than flying direct from either Glasgow or Edinburgh.

This airport is near us as well. I heard on the local news that the flights will be going to Sanford.

    Sanford is correct!

That is great news! I am so glad that more flights are going to the sunshine state[8D] and given more people the opportunity to get there. Travelling great distances to airports , before you even consider the flight time, and time you are required to be at the airport can make it a real challenge for some travellers.

We live in Pontefract which is about 60 miles from Manchester Airport.

But we have gone from Gatwick as many times as Manchester.

Travelling time is not really a problem but it does take 4hrs to Gatwick.
So this will be a welcome sight for us.

    Only about 20 mins away!!

Lets hope the prices are more resonable next year!

I hear that the runway is the only other one in the country apart from Heathrow that will be able to take the new A380, so y'all have to get there reaalllll early to checkin [^][^]

As Robin Hood airport was a base for the old Vulcan it needed a rather long runway, i'm sure i heard 2 miles long, so it's plenty big enough for the a380 and even for that humungous antanov plane
