The aging hippies saw them last night at Wembley Pavilion Arena, and apart from the awful surroundings (what made Wembley think they could get away with this?[}]) it was wonderful. We went in trepidation being both Queen and Paul Rogers fans, and I had seen Queen in the Crazy Little Love tour of the dance halls in the 80's.
Freddie is a hard act to follow, and Paul is not the showman he was, but what a voice, one of the best bluesy/rock ones around. A treat from start to finish, heard all the old Queen classics plus Free and Bad Company. Plus Roger Taylor and Brian May sang - in any other band would have been considered good enough to be a lead singer, but with Freddie in a different league - as was seen in the tribute concert to him where only George Michael came anywhere near being able to sing his songs well.
Lovely tribute to Freddie as well in a video, plus him playing the piano for Bohemian Rapsody with Paul coming in at the end. Fantastic - but there is no way we are going back to Wembley until they have finished the building. Charged £10 to park the car with a 30 min walk to the Pavilion which is basically a sturdy tent!
