    Hi Margy,

Publix have a website at www.publix.com and on their website is a store locator, so hope this helps.

The nearest Walmart to your location is at the junction of Sand LAke Road and John YOung Parkway ( I think!) but I can't seem to place a Publix at the moment [msneek] Not too sure about public transport either - you may well need a cab if you don't drive.
Think I may well have to bow out and leave the answer to this problem to those with more experience of the area as I appear to be having a senior moment memory wise[msnsad]

The Public transport is not as good as back home. Definately recommend a cab. I think there is a Lynx bus that goes up to the John Young Parkway where Wal-Mart is. Best suggestion is to search on the net for the routes, the bus company is called Lynx.

The Walmart and Publix stores tend to be located more in the more residential areas, (and usually near to the villa communities) than the I-Drive area which is more of a tourist domain.
Walmart also have a website which will list stores in the area so if you try an online map service you can find out exactly how far they are and get an idea of the cost of a cab if the buses don't go near them.

There's a Walmart on Kirkman road, this will be the nearest to you, the next nearest is West on Sand Lake road which becomes the Osceola Parkway, it's about 3 or 4 miles and is on a developement with quite a few other stores.

The nearest Publix is much further down I-Drive past Seaworld, almost at the end of it where it turns into I-Drive South, it's on the right hand side as you drive South. The next nearest is on the 192 just East of where I-Drive intresects.

there is a walmart on sand lake road as mentioned above which should not cost too much to get a taxi to. there is also a walmart on the road you travel to universal on, past the "twin towers" radisson hotel, but i cant think of the name of the road. go to the one down on sand lake road and there is also pets at home, a big dollar tree, bealls, lowes and a few other shops. if you book a taxi to pick you back up make sure you have at least a few hours in walmart as it is great and best place to buy all your presents than the outlets on i.drive.

there used to be a publix east of mickey d's on i.drive but when we went there last year it had closed, but there is a Kmart here as well and Kmart is a good shop, it does a few groceries and lots of homeware and clothes. there is also a restuarant in here usually frequented by locals rather than tourists and it is worth a visit to. dare say it is within 10 mins walking distance of mickey d's but i would not like to walk it in the august heat!

Target is also a good shop to go to and there is one at the Florida mall. and also one next to the mall of milennia!

    Have a good shopping trip
