    Waffle House

After having the most wonderful waffle for desert at an American restaurant at the weekend (hope no-one from the slimming club is reading this [msnwink] [msnembarrased]) I just wondered what people's opinions were on Waffle House. It's another place I've never tried and there doesn't seem to be a menu on their website.
    Also do they do take-outs?

We've only ever been to one, and it was more akin to a uk truck stop. Food was ok, but what was worrying ,was the height chart pinned by the entrance!

Er, Waffle House don't necessarily do waffles! It's one of those US enigmas. They do amazing omelettes and breakfasts and hash browns but not many waffles! Mostly frequented by Americans so hardly any tourists, this is a sort of truck stop type of place but the food's normally good.

They do the best hash browns going IMO [msnsmile2] They come with loads of different combinations, extra onions and smothered in cheese is my fav [msnwink] We always try and get there for breakfast once each trip.

They do sell waffles as well Liesa, blueberry and strawberry I think. Also do take out so you can always take it back home. That's what we oftenopt to do so we can eat by the pool, our daughter just loves the hash browns and Mick always has at least one steak and eggs there each trip.

We tried the waffle house on the 192 once, and my husband and I thought the food was good, but my teenage son and daughter thought the place looked horrible and wouldn't go in. They stayed in the car and had a 'Checkers' from old town. Don't let the look of the place put you off. The Waffle House on the 192 looks a bit run down from the outside, but we were pleasantly surprised with the food and the service was great. The only complaint I had was the country music which was played all the time we were there!

I worked at one one summer and I really would agree: Truck stop type of dining. Cook right in front of you, orders yelled out, a real down to earth breakfast but if you add the check up more expensive then most breakfast places. Hash Browns are good though I have to admit. Waffles are the flat ones as I love the big belgium size ones and cant recall any breakfast places in the Disney area that serve those.
