    child intercom (baby listener)?

    I am aware that Walkie Talkies from the UK are illegal in the US as they operate on a different frequency but does anybody know the score with baby listeners as we would like to take ours with us when we go.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks.

    Some homes provide these for guests but you'd need an adaptor for the electrical socket and also need to make sure that it works on 110 volts.

    They use radio waves to work and I've just found this info.

    Parents should place the monitor and the baby several feet away from electrical devices such as televisions, oscillating fans, and humidifiers. Although uncommon, interference from such devices may affect monitor performance. In rare cases, severe interference from local television and radio stations or from "ham" or CB radio transmitters may affect the monitor.

    So it sounds as if they use particular frequencies?

    We bought ours in Florida - $35 in Walmart, so not expensive.

    Walmart have a Fisher Price set in for less than $20
    * Radial light display gives a superior communication of baby's call
    * Concentric arcs of light have a bolder, more visible glow so Mom can see her baby's call more clearly and from a greater distance
    * New contemporary housing design for both transmitter and reciever
    * 2 channels to reduce interference
    * AC/DC operations
    * On/off with volume control
    * Low battery indicator
    * From Fisher-Price, Model No. 79636

    Ideal for the money!

    We do provide these for our guests but as already stated they are very cheaply available in Walmart or Toys R Us, so you could save the space in the case for some other goodies[msnsmile2]

    Yes, Baby Monitors use specific frequencies. I'm not sure what they are, or if the UK ones are legal to use here. Check with your homeowner, they may already provide one. Like other have said they are not expensive and can be easily picked up.
