Marriage Certificate

Hi all,

If you get married in Florida how soon will you get the marriage certificate? What are the chances of getting it whilst your still on holiday?

The reason I ask is we are planning to get married in July in clearwater and I will want to change my passport to my married name before the changes take place in October otherwise I will have to apply for a Visa to visit the US

Have you thought of contacting a travel agent as most now help to arrange weddings abroad including Orlando

Our friends are getting married next Thursday in Orlando, I will ask them for you. We got married in Vegas and it took about 3 weeks for the full licence to come through after we had applied for it from a judge in Clerk County, imagine it may be the same sort of time but I will let you know.

Jayne and I got married in January. They posted our certificate to us in the UK no problem, took about 3 weeks.

We got married in Florida, our certificate was waiting for us when we got home (about 2 weeks later)

I have a friend who got married in Vegas, and it was on her doorstep when she returned home, about 2 1/2 weeks. You should be able to get your new passport sorted out quite quickly once you get home.

I wanted to travel in my married name on our honeymoon, and my passport only had a few months on it anyway, so I just needed a form signed by the vicar that was going to marry us, went to the passport office in London the week before the wedding and it was post dated to commence the day we got married!!!! If anyone else wants to do this who is getting married in UK and going to US for honeymoon, I would recommend it, life is so much easier at immigration and customs when you have the same name and go through together!!!

We were married in Florida in '94 we went to the courthouse and applied for the license and were married there and then, bit of a shock, you apply for a license and have sixty days to act on it. depends what type of wedding you are having in Clearwater.If you are having some other type of celebration you then have to go back to the courthouse and have it registered, but either way you will be coming home with the certificate, so if you have the paper work done here straight away and sent off you should have no problem getting your passport back quite soon.... Congrats anyway

The guests in our villa over this Easter period had their wedding on St. Pete Beach on April 4th. They received their marriage certificate last Saturday.
