has any one got out of embassy in record time

Ime wondering if any body has had to wait the 3-4 hours that they say you wait at the embassy. Has any one got in early? what can you do to make sure you re seen early? Or is just pot luck ime alittle worried as i will be on my own in the middle of London and the thought of it is frightening me. I live in a village and husband goes with me shopping to our local city. Is there any where i could go without walking the streets.
    Thanks marv

    Hi,

My husbands alloted appointment time was 10am. We arrived at about 9.45am and there was already 2 massive queues (one of which was the 9am queue and the other for everyone else).

We duly joined the correct queue and waited & waited what seemed an age (i know it says you can't wait with relatives but I did!!) Anyway, it was absolutely freezing and when it got to about 11am i'd had enough & my feet were like blocks of ice!!! so i left hubby in the queue and headed off to the nearest cafe for a coffee to thaw me out.

Hubby got inside the Embassy at about 11.10am and he was out by 12.45pm so not too bad but still a long time.

Don't worry about being on your own there will be lots of people stood by you for you not to be lonely [msnwink]

There's an M & S just down the road from the Embassy in Oxford Street so you could go in there shopping (they have lots of things not available anywhere else) and arrange to meet up in their cafe? That means that you're not wandering around and also have somewhere nice to meet up afterwards.

The info is here about the store.

    And here about their cafe.

Marv have you already got your appointment time? If not try and get the earliest appointment time you can bearing in mind travel etc. Hubby was booked at 9am and when we got there at 8.30 am there were already long queues like janwebb said.
However the lines were for differing appointment times and hubby's 9am queue was called in at 9am prompt. He was out again by 9.30am. Think we were lucky. A friend had an 11am appointment and got out at 3pm, and their misdemeanour was only very minor, but it was just a busy day at the Embassy. They do take people with children in early - everyone that was waiting with us was joking about a rent-a-kid business being very lucrative!!
Just make sure you have a mac & brolly in case it rains as the queue is outside with no cover.
    Good luck!

Thanks for your replys, as you may be aware from other post ime now sorted with another appointment which means myself and husband can be together. Im'e so relieved that i now wont have to wander around in the middle of London on my own. I proberly would have done exactly what blott adviced and would have made my way straight to the nearest cafe and hid in there.

    Thanks again Marv

5 hours at the Embassy is the norm I am afraid. No point in getting there too early you won't be seen any quicker. You will be queueing on the pavement so go prepared

Not sure about London waiting times, but my husband went to Belfast 10 days ago and was seen and granted a visa within 45 minutes of his appointment time at 9.45. It worked out cheaper to travel to Belfast 22.50 return flights by Easyjet and the waiting times at Belfast were half that of London Embassy. Good luck with your appointment.
