    Newbie here...need some advice.

    <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS"></span id="Comic Sans MS"><span style="color:navy"></span id="navy">

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and off to Orlando on 22nd October '05 for the very first time.
We (myself,my partner Jennifer & her 14 yr old son) had decided that as sci-Fi and horror fans, Halloween might be a good time to go. So we booked 22nd Oct for 2weeks. we are going to stay 10 nights at Cresent Lakes in a villa and 4 nights at the Don Cesar Resort in St.Petersburg.

We have had a bit of a rummage on the net and decided to do Busch Gdns whilst in St.Pete's.

Does anyone have any must sees/do's at this time of year, or know of any of the Halloween attractons that may be on show?

Also, at this time of year would we need pool heating? We have a 14 Yr Old who's coming with us and maybe he would need the heating.

Any info on Cresent Lakes, and nearest amenities/foodstore would be a great help.

Thanks in advance for any info passed on, as its all greatly appreciated.

By the way, anyone in UK or Ireland should check our Aer Lingus flight prices, as they are great from Dublin to Orlando. They stop flying to Orlando on Oct 26th I think, so we booked Continental for our return, and it all worked out about £340 PP.

Anyway, thanks again, and I cant wait to get over there. I will post photos in the relavant forum when we get back!!!

    Cheers,

    Mike Calvert.

With your son being fourteen the Universal halloween special may be better. It is pretty gruesome so could depend on how squeamish he is.

Thanks for the info you two, great stuff...sounds like Universal may be better if its "Gruesome"...we went to Screamers in Niagra a couple of years back and loved it , so sounds Great!!

I think I'll take your advice and get the pool heating too Liesa, I think the cost was £90 for the 10 days, does that sound reasonable?

    Cheers ,

    Mike.

    Hi Mike

welcome to the forum, you will find lots of answers here to all your questions. Oct is a great time of year to go and I agree with Chris that Universal's Halloween Horror Nights are more "grown up" than the Disney one, but both are worth the trip IMO [msnsmile2]

As for pool heating, it's a very personal choice but we always have pool heat in Oct so we can get as much time in the pool as we can.

Crescent Lakes is a wonderful community and I'm sure some of the owners there will be along to tell you loads of info about it, but in the meantime you can look here for some info http://www.orlandovillas.com/orlando...ent_lakes.aspx

    Mike,

one other thought, if you are into sci-fi then check out the sci-fi diner at MGM. It's designed like an old drive in movie theatre and you eat your meals in "cars" while watching old B movie trailers and ad's [msnwink]

Mike, we went to Universal Horror nights last year, it was fantastic!!! As well as all the special attractions there are limited rides open in both parks, it was seriously good fun and would definitely do it again.
