    hotels in key west

I love key West and we try to go there every visit to Florida for a few days. We always stay at the Doubletree Grand Key Resort, which is a bit away from Duval Street, etc. This hotel is very reasonable and has lovely rooms all done out in Floridian style. In fact, we managed to get a room with two king-size beds for three nights for only $60 per night last year (10-13 December 2004). They have a free shuttle bus which takes you to the centre of Key West and returns every hour. I was wondering if anyone else has stayed in Key West and knows of any other hotels we might try. I know you should probably stick to what you know and like, but I don't think there is any harm in trying something new occasionally. By the way, if anyone is traveling to Key West, you must try the Panda House chinese buffet, located on the main A1A (on your right hand side if you are travelling towards Key West). It is in Marathon and really is fantastic value and great food.

Hyatt something or other good location not far from duval st or anything else in key west. About 5 mins walk from where cruise ships come in. There is a hotel there also but I don't remember the name & is pretty busy around there too.

I think I know the hotel you mention, but i cannot remember the name either, and you are right, that area is very busy. Maybe we will just stick to the hotel we know. It is quiet and when we go there at Christmas the hotel looks beautiful all lit up. It has a large porch area with rocking chairs and a large fountain. Really relaxing pool area too and you can learn to scuba dive on certain days of the week if you want.

We stay in Key West all the time. Our airline uses the Hampton Inn. It's about ten minutes by shuttle to Duval St. The hotel has a great 'Tiki Bar' by the pool and spa. Hot breakfast is served free to all guests. Free wireless internet. They have scooter rentals on site and a consultant who will set you up with many different activities! Last time I was there we went jet skiing around the island! Great resturants within walking distance.
I'm not sure what they charge. No more than $100 a night I would think.
    Have fun.
