Nope not Florida, but the good [msnsad]ole UK.
We landed at Manchester this morning after 3 great weeks in Florida, rather than get relations out to pick us up we decided to get the train back to rainy Bolton, only a 35/40 minute ride.
Filthy horrible railway embankments for 90% of the ride home.
These embankments are used as a public tip, litter, tyres, burned out car, builders rubble, anything and everything else you can think of.
At this moment in time I couldn't be more down if I tried.[msncry][msncry]

Just to put things in perspective last August I wanted to get my teeth whitened whist in Florida, I booked it through 'Britesmile' and they sent me to a dentist in Haines City behind Southern Dunes - well what culture shock it was like a getto, a huge spawling getto with people living in very bad housing and rubbish everywhere it was like a different world and was quite a large area, needless to say I left very quickly and got my teeth done elsewhere - it was really very frightning.

The real central Florida is a very poor area and what you see around the tourist areas have been build for the tourist Disney/universal and the tourist industry have the lawns manicured and the litter picked up for you the tourist otherwise we would not go back, believe me compare with rail embankments in the UK this area was much worse.

So cheer up and look forward to your next trip and look at all the beautiful places we have in the UK.[msnsmile2]

    We all feel the same

Best cure is to set dates for next visit dosen't matter how long away it may be
Does help knowing you have a date to go back
    the clock is brilliant

Haines City isn't actually behind southern dunes it is a fair distance from SD.

No this area was close and its post code was HC, thats is just an example and not a reflection on SD, I have a good friend with a villa on SD and its lovely.

What I was trying to highlight was most nice places all around the world have grotty places nearby its not just the UK, I have travelled extensively in the US, Asia, Australlia, and Europe and its the same everywhere[msnwink]

The USA has its dumps too......and FL has more then its fair share.....its a very poor State mostly because its one of the cheapest States to live in.....so people drift there after a job loss somewhere else......I'm just hoping that a lot of the litter in the Orlando area stops when the building is done......I'm not used to the mess...litter is a big downfall of a lot of places in the UK......and something you don't really see on the Cape.....

HC is a big dump....if you drive through it you'll not believe the homes people are living in....and right across the street are new villas.....

Well done Skippy I couldn't agree more as a tourist you do tend to only see the nice bits. One night in Florida we got lost big time. Lord knows where we finished up but the signs by the side of the road saying in case of break down do not get out of the car but phone 911 for help made us get out real quick.[msnscared]
