    What a dump

Nope not Florida, but the good [msnsad]ole UK.
We landed at Manchester this morning after 3 great weeks in Florida, rather than get relations out to pick us up we decided to get the train back to rainy Bolton, only a 35/40 minute ride.
Filthy horrible railway embankments for 90% of the ride home.
These embankments are used as a public tip, litter, tyres, burned out car, builders rubble, anything and everything else you can think of.
At this moment in time I couldn't be more down if I tried.[msncry][msncry]

We did the same we landed back at Dusseldorf on Monday and got the train home and it was graffiti and rubbish the whole way, think most railway lines are a bit like this. It was the same when I lived in Glasgow.

    Couldn't agree more.

We were only saying yesterday - we took the children for a day out to the Safari Park it cost us nearly £30 to get in and then they wanted £5 [:O]for a guide map. You could find your away around without one but it would have helped. Can you imagine if Disney charged for their guide maps!!

It's no fun to come home, and doesn't everyone seem miserable here too ... you get used to the 'Have a nice days' after a while!

We came home 3 weeks ago and I am busy planning out next trip already[msnembarrased]

I agree, it's depressing to come back to the UK after Florida, but I have just set my countdown calendar to the date of our next possible trip, so that has cheered me up no end![msnsmile2]

Totally agree that coming back is a culture shock in many ways - same as any time away from home on hol's. I do agree that the litter is one big thing you tend to notice.

However the UK ain't so bad overall - it's just that the "rose-tinted holiday specs" aren't used as much when you are at home!

I'm convinced "Post Holiday Blues" also exists.....

There must be things that would eventually drive you barmy if you lived full time in the US....

The weather really does make such a difference too. As I'm typing this it's raining cats & dogs, yet over the Easter weekend the UK weather was great.

We took advantage and went for a bike ride and discovered another world on our doorstep - countryside, canal boats and total peace and quiet.

Only lived here for 11 years and hadn't been there before (!!!) - very often we don't appreciate what is on our doorstep......

And if all else fails, start planning your next trip to FLA, USA!

It is very depressing isn't it. There is no place like Florida!!! We always feel quite depressed being home then when you go back to work you feel like you have never been away! That is an awful feeling.

I think going away for a break between Jan & April is great for taking away the winter blues.

Unfortunately when we get home everything is as grey and drab as it always is and after a 9 hour flight it is easy to see the worst in it all.

The joy of baggage reclaim at gatwick south terminal is a must at 7am when there are three maybe four transatlantic flights and a couple more from the med, all clearing customs at the same time, if you could actually reach customs that is, as trolley rage kicks in and you groan as Burberry and Fcuk(inells) chastise their gold encrusted offspring. Then you know you are really home.
