    4th July fun

Hi again, just wondered if any of you had been in florida for a holiday on the 4th of July? I want to have a good time when I visit and this includes this day.

Where is the best place to spend the 4th July? If in a theme park then which one and what was good or bad about it? I would love to hear about any of your experiences when the parks are celebrating this and if any extra activities are put on like more fireworks etc.

Hope to hear about any fun you had on this day and any suggestions for me.

    Thanks.

I have mentioned on another thread that I will also be there on 4th July (spending the day at Discovery Cove).

Does anyone know whether it will be worth trying to eat out that night (will restaurants be open? Do you need to book in advance?) or should we just stay eat at the villa?

    Thanks
    Karen

For a fun day visit Celebration as they have many activities going on all day and fireworks starting at 9PM. But my advise is to get their early as parking is a mad house.

We have been in Orlando for the past two years on the fourth of July , we simply love Celebration, there is a wonderful athmosphere .We bring a picnic and become honory Americans for the day . The secret is to get there early to find a cosy corner . We meet wonderful people there and end up sharing picnics, of course my kids believe that everyone else has much nicer food than we have. The music is very good also , and like all good days it ends with an exciting fireworks display . We tend to stay away from restaurants on July 4th as they are they are extra busy and the kids are so tired when we return to the villa they only want something light and off to bed. Looking forward to July fourth 2005 , It would be lovely to meet other O V forum members there.

We were at celebration last year for the 4th july, what ever you do get there early, it took us over an hour from the 192 to get some where to park, and that was a grass verge way out, the place was packed but fantastic atmosphere would definately go again but would like to see the fireworks from the lake rather than the car.

We were in Disney Studios on the night of the 4th of July. They had their own firewroks display over the Chinese Theatre which was lovely. Traffic was horrendous though!

We saw the fireworks in Celebration last year 4th July and they were brilliant. We actually watched from one of the big car parks near the entrance to Celebration as it was so busy, but you could see everything and it was amazing.

The only time we have visited for July 4th was in 2000. We went to Universal and they had a brilliant firework display. There was an identical display on at Islands of Adventure running at exactly the same time which meant that getting out of the park was a nightmare, both parks closed after the fireworks and everyone tried to get out through city walk!!

We sat in the car for an hour listening to the radio and drinking cold drinks from the cooler before we even tried to get out of the car park. Having said that the fireworks were fantastic.

Celebration sounds like a good idea because as Dom says the theme parks will be very busy and you are not going to get on many rides. But if you take a picnic to Celebration you can just chill out no matter how crowded it is.

Whatever you decide to do I'm sure you will have a brilliant time.
