June is not enough notice for us due to work and if it looks like it will be in Manchester we need even more time to arrange time off of work. Too far to drive for a weekend with an infant! Early autumn might be better when most people have been on their summer holiday and there is plenty of notice so that as many people as possible can get there, also for people staying in hotels it might be cheaper and less booked up than in the summer.....

I agree Camilla, we need a few months notice. I like the sound of September.

September sounds good as it gives plenty of time for people to plan.

As for the venue, this seems to be more difficult from reading earlier comments, Manchester [^] would be great as there are shops in abundance, plus many great restaurants plus its fairly central.

I think agreeing a Date and the Place first is the way forward then people can make their own minds up as cost is going to be the main issue.
