    Christmas & New Year 2006

    Hi

We are travelling to Orlando for the first time over Christmas and New Year 2005.

We wondered if anyone can reccommend a Good Night out on New Years Eve, there will be Grandparents and two Children (4 & 7).

Also is there anything special that happens between Xmas & New Year ?

Thanks for all your suggestions in advance.

    Hi Rob & Carol,
What a great time to visit Orlando. We closed on our villa last Christmas and as a treat I booked tickets for Mickey's Christmas Parade at Magic Kingdom. It's on during December, we had a great time. Lots of Christmas shows and it even snow's on Main street. It was very magical.
I'm sure other's on the forum will tell you about other things going on at Christmas.
Celebration is well worth a visit to.

    Have a good time[msnsmile2][msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

We will be there for New Year, arriving on 30th December. From the advice from this site I have decided to go to Old Town for the New Year's Eve celebrations. The parks it seems fill very early and will be too packed for me to enjoy. At Old Town we will have lots to do including fireworks and the 21 to 30 year olds in our party will begin the evening with us and then move onto the Clubs in downtown Orlando.
Celebration and the snow has to be a favourite for anyone going at this time and also Ice at Gaylord Palms.

I can recommend NYE at Cirque du Soleil, which is what we did last year. Great entertainment for all the family and well worth the price for something really special.

There are things to do in all the Parks. Possibly the Disney Parks shall be the best because of the age of the children, although it gets very busy! Older kids appreciate Universal more. We have done various things from staying at home, to the Hard Rock Cafe Private Party (Millenium Eve), meal in a nice restuarant, Pleasure Island etc. [beer]

When we were over last year with both sets of grandparents and 2 kids (6 and 12) we went to Disney Boardwalk for a meal and then over to Old Town for the band and the fireworks. we avaoided the parks as they were just way to busy. From memory MK was closed at 10.30am as it was full!!
Old Toen worked out great for us as we all had a fab time and it was only 5 minutes to get back to the villa once it was time to creep to our beds [msnsmile2]
This New Year we are thinking of the Cirque de Soleil and then Old Town again.

We too would avoid the parks, went into Magic Kingdom once on Christmas Day, never again, way too busy. Old Town sounds good, has been recommended a number of times, so think we would opt for a nice meal followed by a trip to Old Town.[msnsmile2]

Thank you for all your suggestions

Is there any Disney Dinner Shows worth going to on NYE ? eg. Not Just the Normal Character Meals.

Can anyone Reccommend the Arabian Nights Dinner Show??

We are just trying to find something a bit different than getting [drinkbeer] and being roudy !!

Any more suggestions would be good, keep them coming and thank you for all who has replied so far.
