I can heartily recommend the Dolphin stayed there couple of years ago for a week, abso brilliant, also opposite a shopping mall with great supermarket for sannies for the beach and the odd [8)]bottle of wine or so!! Also walking distance along the beautiful white beach to Crabbie Bills excelent for sitting on the decking eating your seafare while watching the sunset ooohhh makes me want to be there

Have a look and see if there are any Fairfield Inn's they are I think part of the Marriot group, we always try and use them when travelling round the States, good value and you get breakfast included.

Would support Val here! We stayed at a Fairfield last Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale and was extremely impressed with the price and the quality of the accomodation. We have only been to St Pete's once and didn't stay in the area, but wow! Would love to go back!!

We have stayed at Tradewinds - very nice - but not needed for a one night stop - friends of ours stayed at the best western beachfront, near to tradewinds, and liked it

    Hi Lyn,

We stayed at the Plaza Beach last Feb. Kept their card which says both Plaza Beach and Bayview Plaza on it. Card says the address is 4506, Gulf Blvd, St Pete Beach and Gen Manager is Robert Czyszcon. Is that the same one you are looking at?

If the same then thumbnail sketch -

    - has own beach access and frontage - you are directly on the beach as you go out of their "back door"

    - smaller hotel - probably 2 storey max - almost motel type in appearance

    - very well-kept and presented inside and out. Comfortable rooms.

    - common area with table football etc

    - took pride in being family run and non-chain

    - shops/restaurants across the street

We went to St Pete's on spec and used the green coupon books as a source of reference. They were jam-packed and only had 1 room available when we stayed - possibly a recommendation in itself.

Yes - we would go back again!

Hope this helps - DM me if you want their phone no or email/website address

Thanks Andy I contacted them but they have a minimum stay of 3 nights, my sister has booked to stay there in July she will be pleased with your report, she was a bit worried it might not be very good.
