I was once video'd doing a presentation, I felt that it went well and I was quite confident. When they played it back to me I was horrified at the number of times I said "erm" it was done quite subconciously.[msnembarrased]

"Erms" and "aahs" are quite usual in conversation among Americans, even during celebrity TV interviews. Perhaps you are picking up some of the mannerisms with all those trips to Florida, Liz.

Thankfully we were out at friends for dinner, thank goodness by the sound of it I didn't miss anything "you know". Not it is not funny a little girl in the class I help out in starts all here sentences with Do you know she can be excused as she is only three.

Glad we were in Florida and missed this programme then, sounds really irritating.[msnoo][msneek]

I always watch BBC1 in the morning while getting ready for work, there used to be a presenter on & I can't remember his name who always kept going "erm" every few words it really used to get to me.

Speaking of annoying voices, the one that really sent me up the wall was Terry Wogan's horribly grating pseudo-cultured voice on Radio 2 in the mornings. I stopped listening to that station even though I liked the programmes otherwise. Wogan's voice geve me the heebie-jeebies. It was listening to a well-tuned robot.

Oh I like Wogan - I find it a nice gentle way to wake up in the morning, and I know I am a Tog[msnwink]
