Having driven a taxi in London for 23 years, when I first visited Florida in 1990 I was pleasantly surprised to find the standard of driving in the Disney area as pleasant. Since then however the whole ball game has changed.
I took my driving test on OBT and botained a licence and to be quite frank anybody that failed was either fraught with nerves or just down right useless.
Unfortunately the latter is in the majority now and I drive both defensively and give the locals a wide berth.
Being without a car? No way how would you survive without one. I know we couldnt.Although we do use a limo service if we have a special night out and alcohol is involved. That doesnt change the drink and drive theory.
Get a car and enjoy Florida and just be aware of the other idiots on the road. If you here a deep booming sound and something similar to the light show in Close encounters, let them go they can have their accident and you can smirk as you cruise by sedately, after al we are British.[clap]

Next Question then, I have decided that i will hire a car but with there been 6 of us, would there be enough room in a 7 seater,or would an 8 seater be a must ?

When we travel to Florida there are normally 6 of us and we hire a 7-seater, having said that it very much depends on the amount of luggage you are going to take.[msnsmile]

Go for an Eight seater minimum mate. When i went in November we had 5 plus an infant and had an 8 seater and with all our luggage it was just about adequate on the way back to the airport.

You could rent virtually all the cars we do for two weeks for less than £400. You also then have the freedom to explore the world outide Disney (they is a LOT to Florida besides a few theme parks).

I have just asked him how much in taxi fares and he thinks about £400 for the two weeks.

No question that you should get an 8-seater. A 7-seater's luggage capacity is limited with all seats ocupied and even with 6 of you, there is a limit on how much luggage you can pile on the single empty seat. The 8-seater on the other hand, costs some £25 per week more, but has nearly twice the luggage capacity.
