Thread: Itinerary Advice

The Epcot/MK thing for young children is interesting. My kids ( 6 & 9 ) are so so about MK but just love Epcot. That's one of the great things about Orlando. There's so much for everyone.

There you are, just to confirm what I said earlier. I have met quite a few kids who really love Epcot, often in preference to the other parks. So assuming that they will find Epcot boring might be doing them an injustice.

Mine were a similar age when we first took them to Epcot and they liked it but it was never their favourite especially the World Showcase but then we discovered the masks! They can get a card mask on a stick which initially they decorate but after then you visit every, and I do mean every country ,hunt out a special area where they are given a card tag specific to that country to add to their mask. They loved it and we were there hours. We were the ones asking to go home!![msnwink] And unusally for Disney its FREE. For the older children you can buy passports which they then take into the various countries to get a special stamp. I think you get the masks from the first or last (depending which way you are going round) country. Teresa

Poohbear, I was not even aware that you in particular or anyone else for that matter had said that Epcot was boring. I was just aware of a general opinion that many parents felt that Epcot was not very suited for kids, that's all. I was just using RIS' opinion because it agreed with mine. We all have our opinions and am sure that you can voice yours as much as you like. This is a healthy debate and no harm if two or more people disagree. In fact, it is all part of the fun of these forums, in my opinion.

Got to say I love EPCOT. I love to walk around World Showcase - plenty of opportunity for eating, shopping and catching the sun - heaven!!!!
But also would say that all of the parks have their own particular appeal to me.
As we've never taken kids to any of the parks I couldn't begin to guess what they would prefer.

As the saying goes - each to their own [msnwink]

When my children were younger we visited both the MK and Epcot in the same week and they both preferred MK by far, having said that they have added an awful lot to Epcot since then.[msnsmile2]

As some of you say I think it depends on each individual child as to whether they prefer EPCOT or Magic Kingdom. Mine, for example, are like "chalk" and "cheese". The youngest is up for anything and a bit of a daredevil and can't wait to go, but the eldest will probably only want to go on the milder rides and may even prefer EPCOT. At the end of the day there is something for everyone.

I know I've only put one day down as shopping but I am planning to "shop till I drop", so I will be using the other free days as well!

In response to paddyc about planning the actual day in the park, I've got as far as making a note of the main rides and which ones we want to do first and which ones you can get Fastpasses on. Is it definitely a better idea to choose a route beforehand?

    Thanks.
