    Embassy Question

    Hi Everyone

Our Immigration Lawyer is in stages of finalising our application for an O1 visa. We are told this will take 3-4 months to get an answer, then we must make the dreaded visit. I keep reading how people queue for hours on end just to see someone.
How long should we expect to wait for an appointment/interview, and also approx. how long should we allow on the day?

Obviously we havent got ANYTHING yet but we do need to have plans in place should we get the magic nod !!!

    Many thanks

If your employee paid the $1000 for premium processing the intitial decision should be within 14 days... then it just the embassy wait.. expect 6 -14 weeks.. then on the day ...hours of waiting around for a 5-10 minute interview...

Wow Ray I had noooooo idea the Embassy wait would be that long, we were thinking of taking up the $1000 option perhaps after reading your message we have to.... otherwise it will be winter before we can move (fingers crossed).

So, on the day its hot and cold drinks, picnic lunch etc and hopefully they have toilets.....

    Thanks

It seems from othere sites that E-2 visa applications are taking 12-14 week minimum to get to interview .. more if there is any query ...Hopefully O-1s being fairly rare thing may be quicker for you ...

Fingers crossed Ray, I would hate to face another 3 months on top of the 3-4 months for the application itself. Looks like we have no choice but to pay the $1000.

    Thanks again

We went for a B1/B2 visa in January and waited about 3 hours for our very short interview. You can buy hot drinks and snacks in there.

    Sheila,

Check out my post regarding our day at the embassy, it was for a different visa, but the visit will be the same.

Hope this gives you an idea of what to expect.
