Also you could only book a 4x4 for a party of up to 5, as you can't guarantee that you'd get the Dodge.

Nostromo, There is very little luggage space if you use all 7 seats. Its great for us here now as there is only me, Bry and the boys this time, but on our next visit we will need a people carrier.
It is a really great car, but it is very high off the ground, you really have to climb in. I like the Jeep cherokee just as much.

That's the problem I percieve with renting most "7-seaters" in Orlando. They are fine for a party of 5 plus luggage, but not for 7 people unless you are travelling particularly light. The 8-seaters like Ford E-350 might have only one more seat, but there is twice the luggage space.

We booked the eight seater van, which was more expensive than the jeep, when we got there Dollar only had the great big long vans and we had to pay $300 dollars to have the Durango which was the only other one that could fit 5 Plus all the luggage.

They told me that the Durango was an upgrade on the jeep and van and that is why I would have to pay so much extra, although I told him he did not have the vehicle I had ordered so why should I pay?

He said that was the way it was. So I paid! Yet snapper (NO fault of his) gets it freee AGAIN!

The Jeep Cherokee has 5 seats - 2 at the front and a bench with 3 at the back. It has a good size trunk behind the seats.

No, I don't think so. Even the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a standard 5-seater.

We have had a Durango everytime we have been to Orlando when we have booked through the site above we just love them I feel so safe
We even got one just before Christmas for a month I remember asking Roger can we have a Durango
and his reply was as above cannot guarantee anything
When we arrived at the Dollar desk Bruce said we want a Durango the guy thats an upgrade of so many dollars we said no we will have the jeep instead
So we went to collect it Bruce wa gone for ages when he came back he said I have got a Durango for no evtra cost the car they had asigned to us they couyldnt find the keys so for the inconveniece of waiting they gave him a Durango
Bruce had to go back and change all the papae work and pay more dollars for the tank of gas
that was brand new model like yours Steve a metalic blue that certainly was a good start to our holiday

That's unusual Kaz, If they don't have your vehicle in stock then they normally give you an upgrade free. Last year we had booked a full size and got a Dodge Caravan at no extra cost. I know a couple who got a mustang convertable upgrade free cos they never had the vehicle they had booked. Gotta watch these car reps!! They do tend to squeeze what they can out of you.

Thats what I thought and told the fella at the desk. After a bit of complaining I gave in because the three children were tired and wanted to go. I thought I might be able to sort it out after.[xx(]

I know that pictures can be very deceptive, but the Durango's build looked a bit suspect when I looked at the Dodge website. It might have been an optical illuision, but how does the DD compare in build quality with similar (or almost similar) vehicles like Toyota Landcruiser Amazon?
