the car hire rates for florida are very good on the forum site but
seem to be more expensive for the rest of usa rates.
anyone know why there is such a big difference

The California ones are the same as the Florida, as (I think) are the Nevada ones.

Car hire rates are generally higher out of Florida, certainly in the South West States. However they are very competitive saving us 50% almost, on the cost of last years car hire from Denver. The service is excellent too.[msnsmile2]

Car Rental rates can vary widely, but this site certainly is among the better bargains. But speaking of other ares, there have been times when I got amazingly good Car-rental deals for a particular part of the US while at other times everything available seemed expensive. I have been to the US several times and tried to find a pattern to this variation - time of the year, actual place visited, rental company, pick-up/drop-off place etc but so far am none the wiser. I have decided now to go for the best availble deal wherever I go (and for Florida it will always be OV) and not look at a gift horse in the mouth.

The Florida rates from this forum are as good as you will get. I just wish the rates were available for the rest of the US. I am collecting a rental car from Richmond VA in a week or so and am paying way more than I would in Florida.

I think it's just a question of the competition in the market in Florida that might not be present in some of more 'off the beaten track' locations.
