A superb site, where the ranking is based on passenger feedback and review in part at least. I liked the way they look at Airports and Airlines around the world and make the points considered for ranking very clear to us. Interesting to see that only 3 airlines are in the '5-star' category - Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways & Singapore Airlines. Both BA and Virgin (along with some other familiar names) are in the 4-star group. Any of us can vote, based on personal experience.

The problem is Virgin are one of the most expensive airlines - certainly on the MAN - MCO route they are a lot more than any other airlines as they are the only direct service.

Its always been well know in the industry that Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways & Singapore Airlines were the creme, Singapore in particular. [msnsmile]

Very true Lucy - but "Past history is no indication of future performance" Cathay Pacific's crown has slipped in the past as have many other airlines.

Virgin did have an excellent reputation but there are enough critics even on this forum to cause doubts about their current performance. I suppose the Orlando run might be atypical as it is mainly filled by holiday makers rather than businessmen who fly all over the world.

    Who owns Virgin Atlantic?

On 20 December 1999 Richard Branson signed an agreement to sell a 49% stake of Virgin Atlantic to Singapore Airlines to form a unique global partnership. The cost of the transaction to Singapore Airlines was £600.25 million, which included a capital injection of £49 million and valued Virgin Atlantic at a minimum of £1.225 billion. The deal was finalised in 2000. Richard retains the controlling 51% stake in the airline.
