This is from a dining out in Orlando site I came across about the Orlando Broadway Dinner Theater at 3376 Edgewater Drive:

"As of this page's last publication on February 21,2005, our records indicate that this business has ceased operations"

I have tried the telephone number given for the theatre a few times and there is no answer.

    Ok, I give up!

I tried ringing them but no reply. I tried a tourist centre in Orlando and they said that the New Mark Two Dinner Theater was still up and running??? I shall try ringing direct again later.

Maybe the office is only manned later, considering it is a dinner show and the 5 hour time difference. Either that, or you're in a phone queue. That'll mean the show is popular. Why don't you try phoning later?

OK folks - I have just telephoned the official Orlando Tourist Office and they confirm that this dinner theater has gone out of business. What a shame!

So now where do we take a couple of 80 year olds, the Hard Rock Cafe perhaps? [msnwink]

I have discovered that a variety of productions, including musicals, are put on at the Bob Carr Peforming Arts Centre at the Orlando Centroplex, if this helps.

Why not try Sleuths? This is great fun for any age (and the food's not bad either, just avoid the pasta) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. http://www.sleuths.com

You can get discounted tickets from the link on the top line of each forum page http://www.park-tickets.com

We went to Sleuths in October and can recommend the show, the food was ok but then we didn't really go for the food.[msnsmile2]

Greenpete, I promise you that they will still enjoy a day out in Winter Park a LOT. After you have seen all the places that I mentioned earlier, you can take them out to dine in one of the many upmarket restaurants in the area like Houston's (on the banks of Lake Killarney - great views), Park Plaza Gardens (with its quaint sidewalk cafe), Brio Tuscan Grille (Italian) or Black Fin (Seafood).

Thanks Nostromo, it does sound the sort of thing that they would like. I have heard elsewhere that Winter Park is a lovely place to visit, your comments just confirm it.

As to all those who recommend 'Sleuths', we may well try that. Our itinerary seems to be growing longer and longer. I don't think they will be coming out ever again, due to health mainly, so we want to make the most and best of it for them in the two weeks that we have.

We went to the Mark Two a couple of years back as one of our Disney friends had another cast member friend in a production of "La Cage Aux Folles" which was playing there.

I'm afraid, the meal was very disappointing, but was only surpassed by the terrible production values of the show, which they tried to squeeze into what is a tiny playing space.

I'm not a theatre snob, having worked for many years in Am Dram before turning professional, but the standard of performance was truly awful. They may advertise "Broadway" musicals, but they certainly don't perform them as such.

If, as it appears from other postings, it has closed down, I wouldn't be at all surprised.
