Most people seem totally unaware that you can't just upsticks and move, people are always saying to me that as I love the US so much they are surprised we haven't sold up and moved out there. They look shocked when I tell them you cannot just move there, you have to have a business or some other qualifing attribute. People just don't seem to realise you cannot go just where you want.

We are always getting asked if we bought our villa with the intention of retiring to Florida, people are always amazed when we say that at present you can't do that.[msnscared]

It's Sarah who has the addiction. Ray has booked her in The Priory on numerous occasions but sadly there is no known cure [msnoo]

They have given up on me Liz, along time ago.[msncry]

Yes Heather it is me, Sarah that posts on here, Ray joined us up to the forum but hasn't really had time to post so I do the posting. Should get the username changed to Sarah really so as not to confuse people.[msnwink]

I do not beleive for a minute you will get a VISA to stay in the USA on the back of 3 houses of your own (one of which you live in and does not produce any rental income) and a small MC with 5 houses. The income would be nowhere near enough to support yourself.

They must be doing other things as well that we are not told about as there is no way it would happen on the basis of the facts we know.

Yet another bad TV program which only tells you a small part of the facts that then leads people who have more sense to sink their savings into a Florida villa on the understanding they are easy to rent out and take no effort at all to deal with. These misleading TV programs make me mad [msnmad]

They have lead to so many otherwise very prudent people losing a LOT of money and in some cases their whole savings.

They have 3 of their own and have now set up a MC, last I heard they had an additional 5 houses on their books. They are living in SR and the builders told us that a lot of the new owners in SR were registered with them.

I really have to agree.....they must of had more strings to their bow then just 2 rental homes......they could not live on the sort of money you would make a month for starters.....the only costs you are saving are your MC costs.....so they are planning to live on around $400 a month....I really can't see them getting a visa on that alone......

    More than likely not.

If it was that easy loads of other people would have done it already.

They were planning to semi-retire, but in order to live there they had to own a minimum of 3 properties, this would enable them to register as a management company, as they planned to live in one of them I would imagine they would have had to take on other properties in order to survive.

I think the best thing i've come across so far was our pool guy[msncool] he was british and was over there checking and cleaning peoples pools, said it was the best job ever!!!! I don't want to live out there, but will have my own villa in years to come, I want to be able to not worry about renting it out, the saturation of the market has to come soon.
