    Ice Hockey

    All,

This might test the 'experts' ....[msnwink]

My son is an Ice Hockey nut and we have spoken about doing 'Hockey stuff' whilst over in Florida (in Lindfields) in April.

Thing is, my investigations lead me to believe that Orlando is not really a major Hockey centre and we would also like to go to a match whilst over in Florida - everything is pointing to Tampa as the best location... Does anyone know if Tampa is the closest, major, NHL team? [msneek]

Also, anyone know a 'directions' website as it looks like we need to visit a place in Brandon Tampa to investigate some Skates, equipment etc...?

Another thought ... is it possible to have items delivered to your villa address whilst in Florida - use it as a US address for Mail Order? Anyone done that before? What happens if you are not in? [msnscared]

    Any help gratefully received ...

    Colin

I think you have a choice of two!

    Tampa Bay
    Panthers - Sawgrass Mills

Try the Official NHL website for ticket info and directions etc.

As for having goods delivered to your villa, I would suggest that you check with the owner first, they may suggest having them delivered to the Man Co's property.

As for Directions, there are plenty of sites for directions try a search on Goooooooooogle

    Hope this info helps!

I though all the ice hockey players were on strike or something
    from the NHL site

    "NHL cancels season
NHL Commissioner Bettman announced Wednesday that, because a new CBA has not been realized, the 2004-05 season has been cancelled"

    Colin,
with a view to ice hockey equipment- both my sons play skater hockey, the youngest having been a member of the GB National team for 4 seasons.
We have been to Florida and done the "hockey shopping" thing.
Get yourself a good map and a yellow pages, there are numerous suppliers of equipment within the Greater Orlando area. just one tip, call ahead before you visit, they do have a tendency to close down or move location!!

Yeah, it has been cancelled because of an argument over wage capping. This season was meant to start in October 2004 so maybe if your visit is after mid October 2005 then you might catch the 2005-06 season...

The two best sites for directions are Mapquest & Yahoo Maps. I prefer the former. It will help if you have the addresses (or at least the Zip Codes) of the places at either end of the journey. Then all you have to do is to go to their website, click on the 'Directions' button and fill-in the boxes as appropriate.
