Internal flight departing time?

My flight goes to Miami where i will pass through immigration before the next leg to Orlando.

Not having done a connecting flight for ages am i right in assuming that once i land in Orlando its just a matter of,departing the plane,passing security,collecting my luggage and thats it.

I land at 7.45pm and am hoping to get out of the airport by 8.30pm,so is 45 minutes about right,or am i asking to much,assuming we land roughly on time of course.

You should be away from the airport in around 45 minutes, if you're hiring a car that will potentially be the longest wait, although with the indirect flights we've never had to wait at the car hire desks.

You'll have done Immigration and Customs when you land in Miami so it's just a matter of collecting your baggage and that's it as you'll have come off a domestic flight.

Arrival at any US airport without having to do the Immigration and Customs formalities is very quick and easy. In the pre-9/11 days it was almost like walking off a bus stop. It does not take a lot longer even now.

We have arrived in Orlando early evening before and have been driving out of the car rental car park within 30 mins after landing on an internal flight. Took us almost 2 hours when we did the direct Virgin flight.

We always go arrive at Orlando on a local flight and it never takes us more than 30 mins from landing to exiting the hire garage. We do our car so that we can pick up without going to the counter. If you need to do this one of you should watch for the luggage while the other goes downstairs and signs the car hire forms.

We did Atlanta to Orlando, and also found it very easy!!

Like Blott & Nostromo have said.

Very quick and hassle free usually.

I think organisation is the key!

DaveL's suggestion is good, but obviously this COULD cause problems if you have small children and a lot of cases to collect!!

It is important that all drivers sign the forms as otherwise you are not insured.

Passengers' exeprience with this situation seems varied. Some people seem to have succeeded in just one of the two drivers going to the counter while the other helps with the luggage etc, while in other instances, the Dollar staff have demanded to see both drivers. This was certainly our experience; I had my bro-in-law's papers as well as my own, but the Dollar guy insisted on seeing him and getting his signature as well before releasing the car. Whether it was because Ramesh's licence was an Indian one, I don't know.
