Thread: Where to take under 2's

Our daughter loves the water, so we bought her a swimsuit with the floats built in. It also acts as a sunscreen so she doesn't burn.

Chuckee Cheese (I hate the place but kids love it)

I had forgot about this. We discovered Chuckee Cheese's down in Brandon where my cousin lives.

The kids were over the moon when we found the one on I-drive, it was ideal for letting them run off and enjoy themselves on the play equipment.

But I have to agree I hate the place and was very pleased when the kids were too old to go in there any more

Thank you Ma'am. (I am sure you deserve to be addressed 'ma'am' far more than the forthcoming "Princess Consort" [msneek])

Why not just take them to the theme parks.
Under 3s get in free and there are plenty of rides, shows and character greetings for tiny ones to kept well entertained.

My daughter has been to Disneyland Paris at 6 months and loved it, Orlando at 13 Months and had a wail of a time and is going back next month at 22 Months and is really excited about going back to see Mickey, Pooh Bear, Pluto etc again.

Must agree with the folks who say to do Disney anyway!

We took our little girl at 21 months and she had a ball. Firstly they are free to get in so it won't cost you anything. You don't often get something for nothing in Disney - so it is worth a go!

Our little one enjoyed it from the moment we stood at the gates to the Magic Kingdom at 8.30 on our first day and she saw Mickey coming along on the steam train and sprinkled pixie dust to open the park. When she got in she was amazed by the castle and that carried on for the whole trip.

We used our common sense when picking rides for her and used the child swap where we could. She loved every one - even Pirates of the Caribbean! The animals in Animal Kingdom amazed her and she loved the Festival of the Lion King.

When she was sleepy she napped in her buggy while we sat in the shade for a rest and then we were off again. It was a lot easier than we expected.

She is 3 now and we are planning a trip back this summer. She still talks endlessly about her trip last time and watches the DVD of the trip all the time.

Some people say that 2 is too young but I really disagree. What a 7 year old and what an adult experience at Disney is totally different - and a 2 year old has a different experience again. Emma smiled for 2 weeks solid - is that not what Disney Magic is all about?????????

I completly agree with Millie. My son was also 21 months old the first time he went to Disney and his vocabulary after the holiday improved so much. He really enjoyed every minute and could not stop talking about everything he had seen and done.
When he met the characters his face was a picture, something I will never forget.

My grandkids have been coming out with me since they were 9 months old ( regularly) and they have both had swimsuits like Denise's daughter ( with floats in) and although you still have to watch them around the pool area they will save them from going under the water if they run and jump in or fall in.

You are all thinking as adults , children under 5 will enjoy anywhere where there is visual entertainment, music and most of their family members. Just because they are in a pram or toddling around doesn't mean they cant enjoy themselves at theme parks,, it just means that you are kept on your toes.

Green Meadows Farm is an excellent place to take youngsters, they are learning all the time about the animals, their surroundings etc. There is a tractor ride, sitting on bales of hay, a train ride, petting area, a park to run around on, toys to play with and an area to have a picnic, its great.

The beach is another place to take a young child, let them run around, play in the sand and paddle in the sea, (obviously keeping an eye on them ), children will play anywhere, they have a great imagination and will happily play with anything, but best of all play with them yourselves, whether you are in the villa or pool area or park or beach, they love your attention

You are right - we buy toys for kids which are colourful and noisy and stimulating and taking them to a theme park is no different. Everyone gets something different out if it and I am in no doubt that young children get a lot from this holiday.

Must say though that Universal and IOA is not so great for small children. Disney seem to have the knack of "something for everyone" entertaining 2 year olds and 102 year olds!!!!!

Sometimes I think people are put off taking young children due to the hassle they forsee for themselves not so much that the child won't enjoy it. It is a bit more work but that should not put you off.
