    Where to take under 2's

I don't want to take my little grandson to Disney on this trip-but could do with some suggestions of where to amuse him.

    Swings, parks-that sort of thing.

This is a whole new ball game for me.

He's 20 months-and happy just to climb and run-hence saving Disney till he's a bit more aware.

I really like the park in Historic Kissimmee for small chi;ldren. There is a great water park area there and lots of tables for picnics. There is no charge. It did suffer quite a hit during the hurricanes but I am sure it will be petty good again now, albeit minus many trees.
The other great place where little ones play is the fountain in Celebration. There is a soda parlour opposite and you often see mums and toddlers there.
What about Downtown Disney and the leggo area and again there are lots of outdoor water fountains. Again no charge.

Orlando with a 2-year old can be rather tricky. I expect that your question is really about how to entertain the child himself on the trip and that you already know about childminding services and the 'baby-swap' facility for rides, which are really meant to free the adults to enjoy themselves.

First off, my suggestion would be not to waste buying big theme park tickets (unless you have no choice cos you want to go yourselves) for your grandson because there will be very little that he can interact with at his age, even in a kid-friendly park like Magic Kingdom. The only things that he might enjoy a bit are:

    - Splashing around in the toddler's area of the pool in the villa.

    - Perhaps a nice Disney Character breakfast? Goofy's Breakfast at Cape May Cafe in Epcot's Beach Club resort is the most toddler friendly.

    - Try Fun Spot off I-drive. The main admission is free and rides are charged on an individual basis and so you can pick and choose little rides suitable for your grandson while others in the party can do more daring stuff.

    - Likewise, worth visiting Old Town on a Saturday evening. Again, all attractions are paid on an individual basis and there are some small rides in the Kid's Zone.

Play area and sand pit and celebration
Downtown kissimmee play area and water play area (they have BBQs to use too). Water play fountains too.
Mine always liked going to the play area at the back of the Swan hotel.
    The leggo play area.
    Green Meadows petting farm
Chuckee Cheese (I hate the place but kids love it)
Petting farm and play area at the Wilderness campground
Ak Lodge is interesting to walk around and explore.

I thought about suggesting that one, but wondered if it could be a bit daunting for a 2-year old? Kids that age can be awkward with animals and that in turn may make the creatures uncomfortable.

I know you said not Disney OB but as you don't have to pay for under 3's to go into the theme park, I would still do MK, we took our baby niece and she loved going on the real kiddy rides.

Another big hit for her was the character breakfast at Chef Mickeys in the contemporary, we did wonder if she'd be scared of the characters, but she absolutely loved them.

Also as others have suggested the lego area and water fountains etc at Downtown.
