    gatwick-detroit

Flew with Northwest on one of their deals return £193.We were about to board when they cancelled the flight. They put us up for a night in the Gatwick Hilton, gave us saturday lunch, evening meal and sunday breakfast then flew us to Detroit wher ewe had the choice of hanging arounf the airport for 7 hours or flying to Memphis then to orlando to arrive at 8.00pm.We did the latter.Northwest were very good and did all they couldand the seat pitch wasn't too bad either. We wern't charged for alcholic drinks as that only applies on internal flights.I actuallt felt better despite the delay than when I fly direct. Two bonuses- one the insurance claim and two as we had already gone through duty free on the saturday (and slightly overloaded ourselves) we put it in the car boot in the car park and went through again on the Sunday.Life's not all bad!

Was there a time change on this Janny? We have flown into St Louis and then down to Orlando - never again as we went into Pacific time and then back to Eastern Time. Didn't help we had a 4 hour delay and missed our connection from St Louis! Seems to be the story of our lives whenever we try these cheap hopovers.
