You should always take medication with your in your hand luggage. Not only do medications sometimes have temperature requirements but also your luggage may get (hopefully temporarily!) lost and you'll be without your medication. In your hand luggage, it will stay with you.
A good tip is to take your repeat prescription order form (if you have one) so that at least if you do happen to lose any of your medication, you can take this to a doctor in the US to get a repeat prescription. It will also help you with US Customs if you're asked any questions about your medication.

Also, make sure you bring your medication in its original container.

We have no trouble taking through thyroxine and this time I am taking a pile of antibiotics + loads of other meds as am undergoing treatment for cancer. We are travelling 10th Feb so I will let you know if there are any probs!
When we go to Florida my parents have a bag full of medication, we often joke they will get stopped for drug handling one of these days.[msnembarrased][msnsmile]

We have a diabetic daughter so alway need to carry her medication with us, we just get a letter from the doctor which states that the medication is needed for control of her diabeties and should not be taken from us. We have never had a problem
