    pre pay car insurance

after a recent visit to a travel agent they were told by airtours that we are no longer able to pre pay car insurance after booking a holiday with airtours..has anybody else had the same experience and have an explanation as to why !!our travel agent was told it had something to do with U.S legislation changes.[chatter]

I would have thought any changes in legislation applied to everyone equally. As far as I know, Cars booked via this site have full CDW. Likewise, I wil be renting cars twice in the US this summer and booked through Wexas - both are fully prepaid for insurance.

Haven't heard this one, we booked our car for this month through this site and have prepaid all the insurances and also for our trip in August. It always works out more expensive to pay on arrival, maybe Airtours have a deal going with the car rental people.
    Just being sceptical i'm afraid.[msnscared][msnsmile]

It's total rubbish - you can of course pre-pay for car hire with no problems at all. We have many happy customers (including ourselves) doing just this with absolutely no problems [msnsmile].

After our christmas holiday with flight only from airtours/Mytravel I would suspect anything they do...In my opinion they are on a collision course with going bust and are cutting corners anyway they can to survive...not sure how not doing pre pay insurance would save them but my cynical mind suspects the companies in US have lost faith in them???

Like I say it's my opinion and could be a load of rubbish, but I would never touch them for anything ever again.

What a load of twaddle. You should have asked the TA if it is the same with Virgin or any other tour operator. Then you could see if it was an Airtours/Mytravel Scam. Not the best of Tour operators out there are they?? [msnwink][msnscared]

Sometimes I feel that I am banging my head against a brick wall
I try to persuade all my guests to either get quotes from this site or let me get them but most of them seem to know better, like the lady 2 years ago who ,on arrival at the Dollar desk was informed that there was no car booked in her name. She had a voucher for the car but she didn't know the company she paid for the car had gone out of business and had not paid Dollar.
If you have suitable travel insurance, the price you are quoted on this site is what you pay. Nothing more!!The added bonus is that you have 2 people, sorry 4,who will pull out all the stops to help, particularly if there is a problem.

We flew with My Travel about two years ago and said we would never touch them again. It even put us off going to Florida. Anyway, this time we booked direct with Dollar and a car for 9 days is £165 and this is including all CDW, LDW, UIP and all the other bits you need to worry about, it is also giving us an additional driver and a tank of fuel. We worked it out that this is less then we would have to pay if we went with a tour operator and had a "free" car.

The 'free car' you get with airtours will work out much mor expensive in the long run than just ignoring the car and pre booking one on this site instead.
