    Wedding New Years Eve 2005

    Hi there

I am getting married at Lake Eola on the 31st of December 2005[msnsmile2]. I have a query regarding where I should hold my reception dinner. There are only 6 in the Wedding party. My Wedding Coordinator has suggested Arthurs 27 or Lee's Lakeside, I was wondering if you have any other suggestions? I am looking for something very romantic, normal food, i.e nothing too fancy that I don't have a clue what it is. Expense doesn't really matter, as it is my Wedding.
Another query is as it is New Years Eve, is there anything you would recommend doing is there fireworks at Lake Eola? We are staying at the Radisson Resort Parkway for 3 nights, then on to Cypress Pointe Grande Villas for 18 nights. Are these accommodations alright?
Sorry to ask so many questions[msnembarrased], but I haven't been to Orlando before and noone in my party drives, so I had to find accommodation close by to the major attractions. Both accommodations look great, but what do you think?

    Thanks

    Summer

Welcome to the forum and ongratulations on your forthcoming wedding!

Here's a revue I found about Lake Eola Yacht Club:

Talk about prime real estate: this casual counterpart to s[bad language filtered out]y Lee's Lakeside borders sparkling Lake Eola and offers spectacular views of the fountain and the downtown skyline. The 100 deck tables -- placed strategically to catch the breeze coming off the water.

The lunch menu's best deal is the tropical buffet, but a generous offering of soups, burgers and hearty sandwiches also proves popular. The dinner menu kicks it up a notch with sophisticated fare like chicken stuffed with onions, peppers, cheese, herbs and rosemary cream, a tender filet mignon sauteed with wild mushrooms and the Commodore's Feast -- calamari, shrimp and scallops with tomato and basil heaped over linguine. As an alternative, nosh on a number of appetizers like the hot spinach dip, seared tuna and conch fritters.

It sounds to me like there's going to be a new facility opening shortly:

Being renamed 903-The Terrace on Lake Eola, the building also will include facilities to accommodate the more than 300 weddings and other special events held each year at the landmark park.

Massoni, who along with his partners closed on the Terrace deal this week, says the building will be located behind the existing facility and designed to take advantage of the lake view and offer an al fresco feeling that would still be comfortable during Florida's hot, rainy summers.

Rick Van Warner, an Orlando restaurant consultant, describes the location, on the lake's northwest corner, as "killer. It's an absolutely primo spot for a restaurant."

Originally a snack bar, the property was shuttered June 2003 and then sat vacant for six months.

Jeff Campbell, who had acquired a lease from the city to operate the lake's swan boats as well as a new business -- the GondEolas -- says he negotiated a lease to renovate the restaurant after the demand for dining from park guests became obvious.

"I gutted it and redid the entire kitchen -- and added landscaping and improved the outdoor dining area," says Campbell.

I had some guests who had their reception at Lee's Lakeside restaurant following their wedding at Harry P Leu gardens and they were delighted with everything and said the meal was superb. This was in May 2003 and they took about 20 members of their families over.

I have eaten at Arthurs 27 but it was 6 years ago. The restaurant overlooks the Disney area and you can see all the fireworks as they go off at the different locations. The food and the service were superb when we ate there.
I have also stayed at both the places you mentioned.
Radisson Resort Parkway ( last year )it was clean and comfortable but we |had a standard room (savers rate) so it was nothing special.
I have also stayed at Cypresse Pointe Villas (3 years ago) The location was excellent. The villa was also excellent but only after we rejected the first 2 which they offered. There are many blocks at Cypress pointe and they refurbish on rotation so make sure that you get a recently refurbished block. The villas have a good layout and are very spacious.
I would just mention that these villas are not villas as in individual homes, they are very spacious apartments. You will know that from the pictures you have I guess but i just thought I would mention it in case you thought you were getting a villa like the ones advertised on this board.
Have a wonderful time planning. I am sure you will enjoy whatever you choose. Orlando is such a great destination.

    Hi all

Thanks for the reply, it sounds like Lee's Lakeside is a good option. I also heard of Alberts and Victorias in The Grand Floridian, does that ring any bells with anyone??
Thank you also for the compliment on my names, they are actually both mine, Summer is my middle name, Cassandra my first!
Another question where should we go on New Years Eve?

    Thanks again

    Summer
