I can confirm ths does happen, when we last flew home,27th november, I had a cold, just a we decended into Manchester I blew my nose as I had a cold and got the worst pain I have even had in my nose and my left eye 'popped'.
Ended up off work for 3 weeks with a perforated eardrum, which is still no right,I have an appointment with the ent specialist at the hospital as I am still patially deaf in that ear, unfortunatly they cant fit me in until the 22nd feb, 2 days before we are off again

Thankyou Nostromo, if my daughter is having surgery (actually the surgery is not in Feb. as I said earlier, Feb. is the appt. with the ENT chap) at some point in the Summer, will she be OK to fly in July? I would hate her to have the op. and then the flight to cause more problems. Chloe

It depends on what surgery they are planning to do and the interval between the procedure and date of travel. If they are merely repairing her deviated nasal septum and the procedure goes smoothly without postop problems, then I cannot see any reason why she cannot be fit for air travel 2 weeks after the procedure.

I've been patially deaf in my ear for years.....but I can hear fine in a plane and for a few weeks after flying... after I have a cold or flu....its like I have a lot of bugs in my ear....and then my hearing goes......it starts to come back.....but before it gets better....I get something else......my ear is popping now....and I can hear again with it....I don't like it to much....I like sleeping on my good ear its nice and peaceful.......
