    Manchester Virgin flight Feb 2004?

I know its a long shot, but was anyone booked on the Virgin flight last February 19th Thursday 2004 10.25AM from Manchester, that had to turn back after about an hour into the journey to Orlando, due to engine problems?

A million to one chance i know, but you never know?

Well lal, what actually happened was after leaving about 15 minutes late from Manchester everything was fine and even the weather was good, which in Manchester in February is a miracle in itself..lol

9.15am in Manchester in Feb and look...blue sky and sun

After about an hour into the journey we seemed to be making a big swing to the right but i thought nothing of it until the pilot came on the intercom and told us that they were having trouble with one of the engines and had to return back to Manchester to check it out.
I took a photo of the fuel being ejected because we had to lose a certain ammount before we could land due to the weight so we were informed.
Of course the double windows were filthy, but my request to go outside and clean them was ignored, for some reason or another

Not a sight you want to see out of your window.

Anyway we returned to Manchester and sat in our seats for about an hour before we were told that although it was only a faulty gauge there was no spare plane and we would have to spend the night in a hotel and leave the next day
The next few hours were very frustrating because we had over 300 people who all had to go to the Virgin counter to be given rooms for the night and reassigned new tickets for the next days flight and the fact there were only 2 people on duty the whole time was very very annoying and very slow and i did feel sorry for them as they were taking a lot of grief even though it was not their fault of course.

To be fair to Virgin they did offer us all a 50% reduction off any Virgin flight in the future to anywhere they flew, but at the time i was just so upset because i was meeting my American friend straight from the airport that afternoon and she had taken time off work both that day and booked the whole of the next day off,and now i was going to be losing 24 hours with her which no ammount of money could compensate for.

Anyway after a depressing night stuck alone in the hotel which was at least on the airport grounds so no travelling we left on time the next morning and arrived on time in sunny Orlando

This is the sight you love to see from your window[8D]

Of course despite the delay i had a fantastic time as always and returned again a few months later using my half priced ticket which saved me nearly 400 pounds seeing as i went in August which is quite an expensive time to go due to it being the main holidays here in the UK.

A beautiful Orlando sunset as i was leaving.

I think I remember this delay, I live 3 miles form MAN and drive past on the school run every morning, and can see the flight path (mainly for landing) from my house so I always notice if the Virgin comes in or out at the wrong times!! Sad!!! As I am ex Ba crew and a keen avaitor I love all thing flying!!

Glad it all worked out OK in the end!

The 3rd photo is soooooooo familiar!!!!![msnwink]
