Did any one get to the rocket launch today?

All our childrens names are on the Deep Impact Impactor, we signed them up last year, there's a disk with 560,000 names on it, they got a certificate with their names and the mission info on

Sat in Clearwater library right now checking out the NASA website for the launch on 13th July. Still tickets available, as we will be in Orlando on 13/07/05, will definately hoping to be able to see this launch, if all goes to plan.

Well it didnt happen again - we were in Titusville with apparently 500,000 other folks and waited for approx' 3 hours before it was cancelled! It was so hot!! Then it took us 4 hours to get back home to High grove!! What joy!! Has it put us off? Well we are home in the UK now so the current launch will have to go ahead without us (so it'll probably def' go!!!) Whether we ever get to see one depends on how succesful this one is - i get the feeling that people in high places are beginning to question the wisdom of the shuttle program continuing - its old technology now isnt it?

Whilst the shuttle has been out of action there have still been astronauts/cosmonauts on the International Space Station who have needed to be transported along with supplies. In order to do this they've been continuing to use the Russian Soyuex craft which are even older than the Shuttle technologically.
