Park dining options

Has anyone done dining options at the the theme parks? The one I'm thinking of at the moment is the Dine with Shamu one (£32 per adult, buffet).

Are they worth it?

It is my birthday while we are away so I'd like to do something slightly different (can't do Discovery Cove dolphin swim due to other members of party, plus I've done it once already so don't suggest it or I'll [msncry]. Would love to do it again).

There are plenty of dining options in WDW and the other Theme Parks. To list them all here would be too long, but as you mention, Sea World's 'Dine With Shamu' is one of the popular ones. Opinion about it seems divided. We went in 2000-1 and thought it was good, but some others more recently thought it was waste of money (look at the trip reports). The food at most Dinner Shows is mediocre at best and so I'd leave those. My suggestion to dine on your birthday would be to book somewhere like Victoria & Alberts at the Grand Floridian Resort or The California Grill on top of Contemporary Resort. If you get a good table at the latter, you can watch the Fireworks at Magic Kingdom.

Mama Melrose's at MGM do a very good Fantasmic show Dinner package that needs to be booked early.

Of course, there is Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner at Magic Kingdom. If your birthday falls on a day with Spectromagic Parade on the schedule, then this one is a very good choice. You can see the fireworks afterwards too.
